Earn-A-Bike Program
Eligibility
Due to the shortage of used bicycles only individuals residing in temporary housing, unhoused, or currently unemployed are eligible for the Earn A Bike Program.
Program Fees are $40 for the Earn A Bike and a helmet.
There are discounts available for people who currently unhoused, living in transitional housing, or unemployed. The discounted fee is $20 to cover the cost of the helmet and bicycle refurbishment. We will not turn anyone away; please speak to an employee about the fee.
Program Details
Take the online bicycle safety test at Learn.BikeLeague.org. Scroll down to Smart Cycling and click Learn More. You do not need to register, but if you do, you can leave the test and come back without starting over. There are 4 Sections: Basic, Intermediate, Advanced, Exam. Click on all 3 sections, read the Contents pages, and take the quizzes. You must take the EXAM and pass with an 85%.
Take a picture or a screen shot of the Exam Certificate that shows your name and test results. Email the picture to Revolve info@revolvekc.org. Include your full name and your height.
Someone from Revolve will respond. We are chronically low on Earn A Bikes due to COVID shortages. You will need to visit the Shop to pick out a bike and it may take multiple visits to find one that fits properly.
Bring your $40 program fee in cash or credit card. Show the Revolve employee the picture/screen shot of your test summary page.
You will be fitted with a bicycle and helmet. Locks are available for purchase.
Please Note:
The bikes typically available in the Earn-a-Bike Program are refurbished bikes from non name brand manufacturers such as Huffy, Roadmaster, Murray, Next, Free Spirit, Magna, etc. ON AVERAGE, PARTICIPANTS REPORT INVESTING 2 TO 2.5 HOURS TO COMPLETE THE TEST. It can be a challenge to accommodate individuals taller than 6ft in the Earn-a-Bike Program. We’ll put you on the tallest bike we have at the time you complete the program.
