RevolveKC Earn-A-Bike Program

Over 1500 Participants have completed the Program and you can too!

Eligibility:

Due to the shortage of used bicycles only individuals residing in temporary housing, unhoused, or currently unemployed or underemployed are eligible for the Earn-A-Bike Program.

There is no fee to apply for our Earn-A-Bike program and earn a free bicycle and a helmet.

A letter of good standing is required. This should be from a transitional housing case worker or similar reference.

 

Program Details

  1. Take the online bicycle safety test at Learn.BikeLeague.org.

    1. You will need to register for an account.

    2. Go to the “Smart Cycling” section, then scroll down to “Take a Quiz”.

    3. Find the section that says “SMART CYCLING, everyday riding skills” and click “Learn More”.

    4. Complete all sections under “Contents”, which includes all Basic, Intermediate, and Advanced sections. Then take the Smart Cycling Exam, and pass with a 75% or better.

  2. Snap a picture or a screen shot of the exam certificate that shows your name and test results.

  3. Email the completed certificate and your letter of good standing to info@revolvekc.org. Please include your name and height in the email so we can verify there is a bike that is fitted to you.

  4. Visit the shop to pick out a bicycle and helmet (it may take multiple visits to find one that fits properly!) Locks are available for purchase.

Please Note: 

The bikes typically available in the Earn-a-Bike Program are refurbished bikes from non name brand manufacturers such as Huffy, Roadmaster, Murray, Next, Free Spirit, Magna, etc. PARTICIPANTS REPORT INVESTING APPROX. 2 TO 2.5 HOURS TO COMPLETE THE TEST. Please call ahead to confirm availability of bikes during bike season (March-September). It can be a challenge to accommodate individuals taller than 6ft in the Earn-a-Bike Program. We’ll put you on the tallest bike we have at the time you complete the program.
